Federici Nora 27 April 1910, Rome (Italy) – 9 September 2001, Grottaferrata, Rome (Italy) was an Italian statistician.
==Biography==
Her long and rich research, which began soon after obtaining a degree in Political Science at the University of Rome in 1933. She dealt with all demographic issues, with great attention to deep the intersections with biological and social demography. She founded the Journal Genus, directed from 1966 to 1994. She strongly supported the demographic studies in Italy, after the crisis followed to racial laws in the years of Second World War. During her long teaching career, she could banish (1961) the first chair of demography at the Italian University. She has grown around her generations of students to whom she taught in scientific rigor and freedom of thought. Nora Federici's commitment went beyond University. Her ability to disclose non-academic contexts has meant that Demography became a topic of public interest for the studying the evolution of populations. Many were the charges that she served in the international scientific community, receiving continuous esteem from the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population.
